AYF’s response to Rule 52 question
Here’s what the people at the AYF had to say about the implications
of Rule 52 on Hydrofoil Moths.
Sorry its taken a while to reply
to you on this one. Rule 52 is generic, and any issue concerning the
class’ application of the rule must be deliberated by the highest level
of association, in this case the IMCA. A class/measurement system/etc
may decide to amend it, as has been done to other rules such as 42.
This is not something that can be done by us, nor any single country’s
association.
Rule 52 is titled “Manual Power”
and states”A boat’s standing rigging, running rigging, spars and
movable hull appendages shall be adjusted and operated only by manual power.”
Now wasn’t that a revelation!
