Team Jacques & Sign

Tuesday, November 30th, 2004

Tristan & Alain now have their own
website… geeks!

The opening line “…they won every major competition in the Uk and
Europe…” is a bit interesting… considering they didn’t win
their own UK Nationals!

Glossing over the truth a little there aren’t we?

Boat sluts

Monday, November 29th, 2004

Some news from lots of different people sailing lots of different
boats with lots of different people…

So where do we start…

I’ve already mentioned Dave sailing with Ian Jensen on the 420.
Dave will also have World Champ Alain Sign
crewing for him during a few leadup regattas and the
Nationals.

I’ve also heard that the next big parent-driven sailing prodigy
Sean O’Rouke will be racing the Nationals as well. Apparently with
someone of the likes of Cavill.

Then there’s Nathan on the 49er, who news has it will be picking up
Olympian Gary Boyd to get up to speed in the new (or should I say
old) boat. So I’m not sure what happens to Ayden there…

Since there was no blow-up at the states with the Marshall’s…
such an anticlimax… it looks like they’re sailing with each other
on the 29er… again.

And then I will probably crew for Silja if she decides to come over
from Finland in a few weeks time. Speaking of Finns, Lauri was
looking like dropping in for a regatta or two, but decided against
it to avoid a domestic in his hawaiin family.

It also sounds as though Luke Johnson & Ashley Reeves will make
a comeback to the Nationals this year, after their 3rd and 10th
placings in 2000 and 2001… what a blast from the past that will
be.

There is also news that two of the best American teams will be
showing up, and a bunch of Kiwis… both with brand spanking new
gear. Interesting.

So… all in all not that much news… but if you have any more…
feel free to tell me :)

Nicorette

Monday, November 29th, 2004

The new Nicorette came out of the factory this week or last week…
and after some moron crane driver dropped it… it went back
in.

Nice to see they’re all organised only a few weeks out from the
Hobart race.

Bathtubbing it to Korea

Saturday, November 13th, 2004

Well it looks like Dave is on yet another sailing campaign, only a
few months after returning from the last one…

Peter managed to get hold of Triple-Youth-World-Champion
Outteridge’s 420, and picked up the crew as well. Now they’re
only 2 regattas away from heading off to the next ISAF Youth Worlds in Korea. It will
be interesting to see how they manage to get from one side of Lake
Macquarie to the other to race in the 29er and 420 Nationals on the
same day.

I guess
Team Bethwaite wont be pushing to have the two events run in
sync, since their World Youth ambitions were crushed with the loss
of their 10 month old boat/crew deal. There might be a little bad
blood at the first round of the states next weekend, where all
parties will meet for the first time since the deal.

I wonder who the competition for selection will be?

49er this weekend?

Thursday, November 11th, 2004

I’m still undecided on taking the 49er (or
should I say Dave’s 49er) for a sail this weekend. They are having
a round of the
NSW States at Woollahra, but with a forecast like this -

Wind:NW 10/15 knots increasing to 20/25 knots ahead of S/SW
change 20/30 knots in the afternoon. Waters:Becoming choppy to very
choppy

- it isn’t looking promising.

I guess I could spent the day catching up on work and improving on
my RSI.

Or I could go sailing… how things have changed.

They’re pretty fast getting the content up on the 18 site these
days… even though its a bit tricky to read at times…

Here’s a bunch of new photos from the awesome days sailing on
Sunday… so much fun!
