Another day at the office…
It was another good day on the harbour today, especially for
us.
The shitty, shifty Easterly breeze of 5-12 knots made for some very
very difficult sailing conditions. Lots and lots of boats made huge
gains and huge losses on all legs of the course. Lucky for us our
losses were confined to the end of the last work, where only 4
boats slipped through with slightly better shifts.
For the others… ouch.
The first work (and the whole race) was close as usual. We made the
first mark in Rose Bay in the teens then held on downwind to get a
huge right-hander and pass close to 10 boats. We sailed well on the
next upwind and downwind to round the last bottom mark in 5th.
Unfortunately Club Marine, Casio, Yandoo and SX all sailed through
us on the left hand side.
So in the end we finished 9th. Not as great as it could’ve been,
but a good result all the same.
If we take out our DNF drop, we’re looking good - tied for 9th spot
overall.
The forecast shows the same woeful conditions for tomorrow, so who
knows what could happen.
