It looks like everyone is catching up to Rohan’s approach to Moth Sailing

Though I can’t really talk…

Hello mediocrity

Monday, January 29th, 2007

Our 18′ Skiff Results of late have been pretty ordinary. A 16th last Sunday, a 15th on Friday and a 12th today.

It’s probably got something to do with Euan buggering off to Miami at the pointy end of the season. Maybe.

The fleet has closed up incredibly since last year, and even since the start of the season. Boats at the middle and back of the pack are going as fast as the front-runners (at least in relatively easy conditions like yesterday), and some of the young teams (7, Macquarie, Active) are going super-quick.

Great time of the year to start losing form… and going slow.

Only a few weeks to go till the start of the Giltinan. We’re going to have a hell of a lot of work to do to get on the pace - then go faster again. Damn.

In terms of our Nationals result, we might just scrape a top 10 finish with a good result in the final race next Sunday.

Respect

Argentineans Matías Gainza Eurnekian & Federico Villambrosa have stretched away to an almost unbeatable lead going into the last day of the 29er Worlds. Not bad for a big skipper.

Pepe is in 2nd, but a good 25 points back after a bad 2nd day.

Bad luck Pepe, you’re not going to get any respect for coming 2nd mate. ;)

So much for my picks. The Welsh are well back in 12th. The Aussies are in 14th. Argies fill the first 8 places.

Someone better make sure the Aussies win at home next year.

Silja leads in Miami

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

Silja and her Yngling team are killing it (albeit after only 2 days racing) in the Miami OCR regatta.

They’ve scored a 2,2,2,1 to be 7 points clear of 2nd place.

How many more reasons do I need to go to Lake Garda in June?
