Last Minute
The last minute rush is on for Friday’s invitation race for the 2007 JJ Giltinan.
Our boat went back to the factory for a bit of a birthday, adding more carbon to the deck where the boat is creasing under rig tension (not good). Let’s just hope she holds up for the week.
Seve & Sam were also in the factory, after breaking their #1 topmast in light winds yesterday. Gluing the top section into the bottom probably wasn’t a good idea in hindsight.
10 minutes after 7 broke their mast, Howie on Pegasus broke his as well. Now it’s a rush to make sure there are enough spare top sections at CST – there was 1 going into post-cure as of yesterday afternoon… and already 2 broken rigs.
Who would’ve thought it would be handy to have some excess stock on hand at this time of year.
For us – more boatwork to do, and another afternoon on the water today. I think next year I’ll have to take all of February off in preparation.
