Who want’s to win the invitation race?
Today’s invitation race for the 2007 JJ Giltinan was a tense affair. The final shakeout before things really get down to business on Saturday.
We put the #2 rig in early, but the pumping NE failed to materialize, petering out to an easy 15-18 knots for the race.
Unfortunately for us, Active Air started well and rolled down over us soon after, we were bounced and then didn’t get a clear lane til well up the work.
Fiat and Asko didn’t have those problems though, starting clear - and early - and racing away to the lead.
Seve on 7 used their speed and a good right hand shift to round first at the top mark, with Fiat, Asko and Macquarie close behind.
The race continued on, with the lead swapping several times before Asko pulled away and crossed the line first.
But they were OCS, so 1st place went to Fiat, but they were OCS, so first place went to Macquarie. Lucky them.
Hopefully we start better tomorrow, since we’re going to have to do better than 8th to do well in this field.

Do you know if there’s a list of start times online anywhere? Wouldn’t mind watching from Bradleys.
btw. not that it matters much… but the club site report has Fiat winning.
