Movers and shakers

Interesting gossip last week about the split-up of the 2-time World Champion and Athens Olympic 470 team Nathan Wilmot and Malcolm Page.

Now I have no idea if there’s any truth to the rumour… it could be complete bollocks

But if it was true… it would be a very interesting development. Wilmot/Page are up against current ISAF World #1 team Belcher/Behrens for the Beijing Olympic spot, with both teams meeting the pre-qualification criteria (the yet to be officially released criteria). The second stage of that criteria was to be subjective, so you can understand the reservations from a fast-in-heavy-airs team for their subjective chances of selection for a light-air regatta…

More news is sure to come out of the recent AST training camp in Hamilton Island.

How long til someone gets asked to step aside for the incredibly experienced, well respected and (in 49er terms) lightweight Malcolm?

that would suck (the last part)

    Hi Scott

Its Malcolm Page. Your rumours are not welcome. You have known Nathan and I for a very long time, you could of only asked.

I also think that our performance in heavy air, can also be done in light wind. We managed to prove that at the 2006 ISAF Games (Gold) and the 2006 470 Worlds in China (Silver, losing Gold because of a pumping foul).

    Look forward to your correction.
    Regards
    Malcolm
