Here we go again…

It seems last year’s promising but strangely unsatisfying endless summer of discontent is repeating itself in 2007/08.

In the latest low, the Rag had a black flag DSQ in Sunday’s race after being over in the last of the 5 starts for the day. We were in good company however, with Asko, 7 and Fiat also skipping over the line for an early shower.

So our disappointing whatever place it was a couple of weeks ago, and last weeks… equally non-memorable finish are dreary evidence of a depressing form slump which needs some drastic action if things are going to change in time for the JJ in February. The coming Christmas break may be what it takes to kick the campaign back into gear in the new year.

Last Sunday, karma struck with a cruel vengeance after my subtle dig at the silver spooners the week before… our new high-modulus rig turned up, and after a painstaking morning of toil, was sent back to the factory… for replacement. We went with the #2 along with most of the fleet and cruised around in low-range breeze… bugger.

Anyway, the new rig is looking better now, and the new sails have all been signed in. First hit-out comes on the 6th of January when the Australian Championships kick off…. and I’ll be sitting in a coach boat that day watching sailing in Melbourne (instead of racing)… now that’s something to get excited about!
