Instead of a spiderweb of tubes that would be at least 1.5mm thick each, why don’t they build a shell of 0.3mm carbon put in a layer of really light nomex, followed by another layer of 0.3mm carbon. You could stiffen this with a couple of really light carbon nomex frames. You could then put a light deck on it so that you don’t fall through it or break your ankle when you tack. This structure would also ‘float’ on it’s own and not explode/ fall apart when it inevitably comes crashing down to the water.

I’ll call this radical invention a “HULL”
