Look how far we’ve come
I managed to dump Rohan’s miniDV footage from Garda onto DVD, and then spent a bit of time watching it.
What surprised me was not only how long ago it felt, but how far we’ve come in the 12 months since. Time will tell, but from what I’ve seen around, the skill level of Moth sailors and their understanding of how to setup and make these boats go fast, is so far ahead of where it was back in 2007, in a general sense of course.
Though I could be wrong. Wouldn’t be the first time.

I agree, from the video i have seen of rohan’s it should be interesting to see how everyone is going to stack up.

The fact is Rohan would have no chance this time……….

I have checked out the video of Rohan and Bora and there is only one conclusion to make. Bora would be eating veal for dinner. I can see why Rohan wont be showin.
Bora will tear the moth worlds apart!!

You’re probably right Bora. I’m having trouble with the zipper on my fat suit.

of course i wouldn’t do well this year, as i havn’t raced or trained in 10 months!
but if i did, i would be 10 months ahead of where i was last year.

Bring it on Dave…..All you Aussie hot shots. Its an even keel this time the Ashes will stay here and you will cry in your Fosters!

Indeed Rohan, that would be the case. Even without 10 months of sailing you’d still be in front of the field.
But the rest are gaining fast. Hence the comment about the level in general moving up. I wasn’t referring to you personally, other than that the video was yours.

scott - i was actually replying to ‘Pommy Bob’s’ comment, ie “The fact is Rohan would have no chance this time……….” not your post.
but i agree totally about everyone catching up. it was only a matter of time. looking at bora’s tacks, he has already surpassed me there, and from tuning against amac yesterday and today in glorious weather down here, he is bloody fast and high upwind with his new mast and sail.
i can’t believe how unfit and weak I am tho. didn’t last much more than an hour out there. no plans to race in weymouth as i have booked a rib to coach our team, but i must admit, it was bloody unreal out there on the water again. maybe i am having second thoughts???

Hey Pommy bob - only the english are stupid enough to drink fosters.
You’d be lucky to find it for sale in Oz-tray-ya!!!

Pommy Bob - keep dreaming mate. The ashes will STAY in Australia after a week long holiday in the land of warm beer.
I must say the trophy looks great sitting there above the TV. I look forward to seeing it displayed proudly at another Aussie moth sailors house after July.

so who are the top 5 aussies and poms? anyone keen to do a form guide on this as well?
Aussies - Amac, John Harris, Matt Belcher, Scott Babbage, Ben Crocker/James Owen-Smith/Sam England/Doink?
Poms - Adam May, Graham Vials, Jason Belben, Simon Payne, Mike Cooke/Alex Adams/Mike Lennon?
maybe it should be compulsory to have your best female in the team as well?
Either way - that one will be close as well, but i agree with les and think the aussies might have it again…

You poor colonials will have a tough time on our home waters. A pint of warm beer will taste oh so sweet after the win.

Do i count as a Pom? can i help the American contingent? I quite like the yanks as they are scared i might actually be in a Jihad! I do know a guy that might be…………… i thought that was a mast, but thinking about it, it could well of been a grenade launcher.
