Gin has put some great footage of the Bladerider Dash For Cash up on Youtube.

Sunday was the last race of the 18′ skiff Nationals at the League.

With our bowman Pete out with a calf tear, we had the sponsor Pete on board to make up the 100kg we need these days to keep the mast in the air.

We were out of the running for the title anyway after the DNF last week. So it was a nice relaxing cruise around the harbour despite the very sick Easterly breeze. We were in the top 3 for a while, but had a bad 2nd work and finished back in 6th.

Fighting it out for the title were 7 and Southern Cross, with SX needing to keep 7 out of 1st or 2nd to take the title. There was a bit of circling at the start, but when the gun went, 7 was on the line, and SX was not. The guys gave 7 a good minute start, which they were never going to give up.

So the spooners took the title for the 2nd year running. SX finished 2nd, and we ran 3rd on countback ahead of Smeg. The AppliancesOnline pirate ship was in 5th.

The Giltinan is just around the corner, with the invitation race next Friday afternoon. We have our fleet, 3 US boats, 3 kiwis, a Canadian, and a boat each from WA, QLD and SFS.

If Pete’s condition doesn’t improve, then we’ll be after all the sick Easterlies we can get.
