Has been
I may never win another Moth race again.
After both Tom Slingsby and Mat Belcher order new Mach2s. Due to be delivered in October.
Add in John & Nathan.
Then new guys like Dave O’Connor and Stu Pollard who’ve recently bought into the fleet and have plenty of enthusiasm and time. And Joe, Matt & Ben who have bought M2s. And Phil who is smashing everyone – including me – in my old Prowler.
I’ve got a bit on!

September 17th, 2009 at 10:41 am
I’m thinking about taking on the blogin’ stuff. First post: “Has never been”
September 17th, 2009 at 10:43 am
@gui send through the link
September 17th, 2009 at 10:49 am
Damnit Scott… quit convincing all these rockstars to get moths, mach2s none the less!
You’re just making it so much harder for the rest of us poor buggers stuck in mid-fleet hell!
September 17th, 2009 at 10:53 am
@Jon and you haven’t seen the rest of the hit list…
Someone has to be mid fleet, by definition.
September 17th, 2009 at 11:07 am
Matt in Dubai in light wind and he weighs less now than he did in Weymouth – good while it lasted aye Scott
September 17th, 2009 at 11:31 am
and with dave and luka constantly nailin foil tacks you will all be struglling to beat the stgeorge crew!
September 17th, 2009 at 11:33 am
What happened to our beloved BR??
September 17th, 2009 at 12:15 pm
Someone is clearly going to have to invent a faster boat so you can beat these guys.
September 17th, 2009 at 12:16 pm
@Karl
Maybe one with a tilting centreboard?
September 17th, 2009 at 1:33 pm
@karl, balls to the wall working on an affordable version of that!
September 17th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
No Scott those have already been tried and thoroughly discredited by your neighbors, or so my radio tells me.
September 17th, 2009 at 5:37 pm
@ Mothfan – that would be fine if they went to events…
September 17th, 2009 at 7:02 pm
@ cookie, I see you missed the Gorge too?
NSW showdown in two weeks at Sunshine Zhik SHR.
St George fleet cleaned up last year when the glamour boys from Woollahra had a no show.
Hope everyone can make it this time.
September 17th, 2009 at 7:11 pm
@Phil
The other glamour boys might attend, but for me a bucks party in Vegas is calling…
Watching the hangover now. Seems to be a prerequesit.
September 17th, 2009 at 9:08 pm
@Phil
At least cookie has won a National Title.
September 17th, 2009 at 9:19 pm
@Phil
Great to see StGeorge is focussing on the big picture and the big events.
September 17th, 2009 at 9:36 pm
Come on guys, it can’t be that hard?
The way I see it, you just need to:
Log your 21 hours on the water a week.
Pick up a few RV 10% improves along the way, say once every 2 weeks.
Wait for the ‘Pope’ to call and give you his blessing and a few hail mary’s before that big regatta.
It’s not like we’re up against olympic quality sailors…….geez harden up.
September 17th, 2009 at 10:38 pm
@cookie … last time I looked St. George boats won heats at the last Australian Nationals. If that isn’t going to events don’t know what is.
September 17th, 2009 at 10:40 pm
@karl w
At least we tried it and gave it a fair shake .. which is a lot more than most.
September 17th, 2009 at 11:56 pm
haha by ‘the pope’ i assume you mean dave lister. fastest man alive!
September 18th, 2009 at 7:37 am
scotty im not sure im happy with the level of write up got there…..ahahaha
September 18th, 2009 at 8:14 am
Pop Quiz
ok foiler fans
Q: name the stgeorge sailor that has recorded a top ten world championship finish?
First correct answers wins a 20% equity share in Bladerider Inc.
September 18th, 2009 at 8:21 am
@joe
Sorry about that. It was thinking…
joe “runner up at the corporate games” turner
or
joe “greatest flying 11 sailor evah!”… except for ‘98
but just settled for joe instead.
September 18th, 2009 at 8:25 am
Chris Dey … world champion in 2000
September 18th, 2009 at 8:28 am
Oh and Luka got a 5th and a 7th in Garda
September 18th, 2009 at 8:32 am
@bruce
how do you come 5th & 7th in the same regatta?
September 18th, 2009 at 8:40 am
@Bruce
Unfortunately records indicate that Chris Dey was not a StGeorge sailor in 2000. Indeed there was no StGeorge Moth fleet.
You miss out on the 20% of Bladerider. As a consolation prize you win 30% of Bladerider.
September 18th, 2009 at 8:43 am
heat results … not overall
September 18th, 2009 at 8:49 am
Anyone want a 30% share in Bladerider ? … I don’t have room in the house for it …
September 18th, 2009 at 10:05 am
Oh when the saints oh when the Saints oh when the Saints come foiling in I want to be in that number oh when the Saints come foiling in!
Sailing does not get bigger than the Sunshine Zhik SHR and the boys with the red V will be sailing loud and proud. It is the year of the Dragon so all you Glamour boys from the east wash off the wooden spoon and come for the show down!
We have the fastest fleet in Sydney and we will show it!
September 18th, 2009 at 10:09 am
I love to get a laugh from the sheer magnitude of rubbish that is written on this Blog. We won a race here and we won a race there. I hate to tell you this Sydney Sailors but the Brits have a better success rate in the Worlds than all you “world betters” in St George.
Looking forward to Si showing you how its done on an even playing field in Dubai.
PS what is the Sunshine Zhik SHR? I can not find it on any moth calendar.
September 18th, 2009 at 10:38 am
good on ya bruce & phil. all those woolahra blokes are just jellous cause there dads buy them all fancy boats and the stgeorge boys build there own and still go quicker. moths at belmont will be like the rugby league. dragons v roosters anyone?
September 18th, 2009 at 10:46 am
@mothfan
1st V last….Ok bring it on
September 18th, 2009 at 10:53 am
So the Moth Worlds are at St George each weekend from Sep to March?
September 18th, 2009 at 11:41 am
Little less talk, little more action please.
September 18th, 2009 at 12:27 pm
@ Bruce
From what John told me, that foil you guys were trying was poorly designed. As such, one should be careful not to draw overly broad conclusions from it. There are far more ideas than there are people willing to try them at this point, which is why it is far easier to prove something works than to prove that it doesn’t!
September 18th, 2009 at 2:32 pm
@Karl Dude if you can make it work … go for it.
My opinion on the subject is well documented here http://www.mothcast.net/archives/008-nationals-wrap-up/ and hasn’t changed, but don’t let that stop you developing it and making it work if you are passionate about it.
September 18th, 2009 at 6:17 pm
Good post Scott, served its purpose, certainly got the dung airborne.
But I could not imagine any piss up in a casino which would beat a 3 days of sailing on Lake Macquarie.
Have you made a buyback offer on the old Prowler yet?
September 18th, 2009 at 6:23 pm
@Phil
I will tell you in a few weeks if Vegas rivals Lake Mac.
And Phil has already made me an offer to trade back. He made it months ago.
September 18th, 2009 at 7:52 pm
If you seriously think a 20 something single male will have more fun at a mixed class handicap regatta than a boys trip to Vegas then you need to get out more. You obviously have not seen my show for starters
September 18th, 2009 at 10:00 pm
Scott you better not be moving in on my potential sponsors.
September 19th, 2009 at 8:57 am
Sigfried and Roy? could tie the tiger to your boat to keep the snoops away
September 20th, 2009 at 7:35 am
Vegas has got nothing on Doyalson RSL
You with me Les?
September 20th, 2009 at 8:02 pm
Doyalson RSL, or “The Doyo” is the centre of the universe.
Some say it is the Vegas of the central coast. I say Vegas is the Doyo of the United States!
September 21st, 2009 at 8:46 am
@Les
“They call me Bruce” is playing on Sunday night…
http://doyalsonrsl.com.au
September 21st, 2009 at 9:30 am
@Phil
Mate I hope that comment has tongue in cheek. Because I give you the red hot tip. A boys trip to Vegas is a long, long way ahead of some half baked multi boat race.
As Celine said I think you need to get out more…..
September 27th, 2009 at 3:36 am
So the 49er 2008 Gold medallist is getting an Assassin and planning on being at Dubai (news source Daily Sail). So add another to your list Scott.
September 28th, 2009 at 5:15 pm
Did we forget to mention that!
