Finishing with style

An eventful finish for me in the last race of the day. Trading gybes with Bora for 5th place I overstood on the committee boat and couldn’t steer agressively enough through the middle of the gybe… so I ended up on the anchor line, then capsized and my mast hit the boat, so I drifted over the line, then had to right the boat and re-cross and do a 360.

I was lucky to only lose 3 places.

I used the smaller rudder foil today and didn’t have any issues taking off. I was probably only a touch faster than normal downhill, but still giving away a bit to Amac, Dalton and Bora.

The first race I had a glamour start at full speed, but my lane eventually fell into the boats out of the pin and I battled around for 10th.

Race 2 was better. I went left off the line and around the top in 4th, then took the right hand side on the second upwind. I picked the layline and took the lead which I held til the last downhill.

Dalton came through with a bit more breeze and foiled through for the win.

The next one I battled it out with Dalton again for 4th place, then he gassed me all the way to the top mark and I fought it out with Bora from there.

So after all that I’m tied with a stack of boats for 3rd place, but will drop back a bit when the discard is factored in.

Time to change up again though. I’m going to pull the MSL10 out, since Arnaud, Simon and Bora are using theirs to good effect so far.

We’ll see if I can get it going downwind on the layday.

so why you going back to the 10? the 13 too deep once foiling?
